2010 ITU Premium European Cup race in Brasschaat.

June 27 2010 will again be a “key date” for triathlon in Brasschaat. It will be the 28^th organisation of its annual triathlon by the non-profit organisation “ Society Triathlon Brasschaat” (STB). The victories of South African’s Raynard Tissink  in the men’s race , and the one of Antwerp's Sofie Goos in the women’s race, were undoubtedly high peaks in the history of our organisation.

Until 2009 STB was very successful in organizing races over the middle distance, with the European championship in 2007 and the subsequent "ITU Long Distance Series" as reference points.

For various reasons we have now switched to the Olympic Distance, the standard distance in triathlon.

As from this year onwards we’ll organise an “ITU Premium European Cup Race” in Brasschaat.

ETU has given us June 27, 2010 as race date for our first edition. Just one week before the European Championships in Athlone, Ireland.

However, not only is the distance brand new, also the race tracks have been totally redesigned. In the respective chapter you’ll discover super fast race tracks for the bicycle and the run, situated in the middle of the town. The swim stays at its well-known location.

As before, we have tried to organise something for everybody’s taste.

• As from the age of 16, youngsters and pure amateurs can participate in a “sprint” race (1/8). This is the replacement of the well-known “ Just for Fun” event. It is also open to regular athletes.

• Athletes who are affiliated to a national triathlon union, get their own dedicated race over the regular ¼ distance. It is a “ 3 star” race in which athletes can earn points in the VTDL ranking system.

• Between the races above , elite athletes  - both men and women – can compete in the ITU Premium European Cup race and score points in the ITU ranking.

 The number of participants is limited to 250 in the "sprint distance race", and 300 in the "Olympic distance race".

Distances
